COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) Updates

MASKING REQUIREMENTS

Beginning Wednesday, November 6, 2024 everyone will be required to wear masks in patient rooms and treatment areas. This will apply to patients, visitors and all GBGH staff.

Masks will not be mandatory in hallways, waiting rooms, or public areas but are highly encouraged to reduce the spread of upper respiratory illness.

Visitors experiencing any symptoms of illness are asked to delay their visit until they are fully recovered.

For the safety of visitors, patients and our team members, GBGH still asks that you please self-screen for the following symptoms of illness:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Decrease or loss of sense of taste or smell

As well as two or more of the following:

  • Runny nose / nasal congestion
  • Headache
  • Extreme fatigue
  • Sore throat
  • Muscle aches / joint pain
  • Gastrointestinal symptoms (vomiting, diarrhea)

Thank you for your cooperation.

Emergency Department

GBGH’s Emergency department is here for you if you are ill or injured and require medical attention.

THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT IS NOT A COVID-19 TESTING SITE.

If you think you have COVID-19 and are not experiencing symptoms or have mild symptoms similar to a cold, please do not come into the Emergency department for testing.

Visiting the hospital for testing puts other vulnerable patients at risk of exposure to COVID-1
