Ambulatory Care

Outpatient Services

The Ambulatory Care team is responsible for providing primary and secondary health care to the clients of the North Simcoe County area, both outpatients and inpatients. These services are provided by an integrated health care team which includes physicians, registered nurses, registered practical nurses, pharmacy, laboratory, diagnostic imaging and physiotherapy. The team is supported by other departments, including registration, volunteers, central supply, laundry, housekeeping and dietary services.

Please Note: If you are coming to the hospital for an appointment in the Ambulatory Care Department, you must arrive 30 minutes early to register. The hospital has a central registration system that provides all registration in the main lobby.

Ambulatory Care is located on the lower level at the Midland site and is accessible via the stairs in the main lobby or the elevator.

Vascular Access

Georgian Bay General Hospital is proud to offer a Vascular Access Program, designed to support our community and promote patient care at home whenever possible. This program offers advanced vascular access options, including midline catheters and Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICCs), to ensure safe and effective treatment outside the hospital setting.

These devices enable a wide range of interventions, such as:

  • Blood draws and transfusions
  • Chemotherapy administration
  • Antibiotic therapy.

Community providers and hospital providers can order midline or PICC line insertions. These devices are inserted by specially trained Registered Nurses using ultrasound guidance, ensuring precision and patient safety.

By providing these services, GBGH aims to improve patient comfort, reduce hospital visits, and deliver high-quality care where it matters most – at home.
For more information about the Vascular Access Program or the Vascular Access Support Team, please contact Professional Practice at 705 526 1300 ext 5334.
