About the GBGH Board of Directors

Georgian Bay General Hospital’s Board of Directors is composed of community representatives, as well as hospital staff members and two representatives from the medical staff. Each of these individuals volunteer their time, experience and skills for the betterment of our hospital.

Help care for our community…

Georgian Bay General Hospital is seeking applicants to join its Board of Directors. We are looking for community-service minded individuals to fulfill these important volunteer positions.

While adhering to best  practices and with a varied skill set, Directors provide governance oversight for the hospital, ensuring GBGH continues meeting its objectives while upholding our commitment to exceptional care.

The Board seeks diverse representation, both in experience (clinical, health system, advocacy) and background. We also strive for inclusivity to reflect the perspectives of the community we serve, including Indigenous and Francophone membership.

Bernie Uhlich

Chair

Bernie is a supply chain and IT executive, board governor, and management consultant with more than 40 years of experience leading transformations and integration of Global Supply Chains, Digital Supply Chains, Manufacturing, Operations, Mergers & Acquisitions, thereby helping organizations and clients deliver world-class game-changing competitive capabilities and solving complex system-wide problems. Bernie has experience across many different industries and cross-functional areas including healthcare, manufacturing, distribution/logistics, retail, and advanced omni-channel online order fulfillment, professional associations and the public sector.

As a permanent resident of our area, Bernie has a vested interest in advancing the state of healthcare services in our communities. He has a passion for leading the GBGH Board, leveraging his governance expertise, advocating, and helping navigate the organization’s growth through the ever-changing challenges of our healthcare system. This will ensure we attract and retain the best skills, resources, and partnerships for success in order to deliver on our Mission of “improving the health of the communities we serve” and the Vision of “exceptional care, every person, every time”.

Tim Kastelic

Past Chair

Tim is a retired bank executive with extensive international management and governance experience. His past experience serving on a number of healthcare boards and his deep knowledge of Ontario’s health care system ideally position him for his current role with GBGH.

Having cottaged on Georgian Bay for almost 50 years, Tim and his wife are now permanent residents of Midland. His current passions include golf and volunteering at GBGH. 

Jerry Van Dyk

Chair, Audit & Resource Committee

Jerry spent his career as CFO in various manufacturing companies, gaining vast knowledge and experience which has proven beneficial in his role on the GBGH Board. Jerry brings to the board strategic planning, attention to detail, is results oriented, and has the ability to see beyond just the numbers.

Jerry joined the Board to give back to his community and more specifically wanted to join the GBGH Board to help in any way to support our hospital needs for now, and the future, seeing the hospital as one of the great assets for our community. Jerry is currently Chair of the Board’s Audit and Resource Committee.

Jim Mulligan

Vice Chair

Jim Mulligan retired to Midland in 2019 with his wife Karen following a successful career spanning more than 37 years in the financial services industry. Jim has specialized skills in financial and operational risk management, strategic development, and sales marketing.

Jim’s personal goal in his retirement and in volunteering on the GBGH Board is to give back to the community. Due to personal experience, he understands the importance of access to local healthcare and a strong system on which the community can depend.
Jim is Chair of the Board’s Quality Committee.

Scott McIntaggart

Scott is a seasoned healthcare leader who has dedicated his career to leadership development, high performance team building, strategic planning, and leading change. A Registered Nurse by profession, Scott has spent many years delivering direct patient care, as well as developing and leading high performing healthcare teams through his roles with large hospitals in the Toronto area. His valuable years of senior leadership experience in clinical areas such as internal medicine, psychiatry, nephrology, surgical services, critical care, transplantation, culminated in his latest professional role as Senior Vice President and Executive Lead of a major GTA hospital.

Since his retirement, Scott has returned here – to the community where he was born and raised. He has a keen interest in bringing his experience and passion for healthcare to serve our area through the Board of Directors.

Heather Ross

Heather has extensive experience as an executive in the financial services industry with expertise in business strategy, business development, operations, and transformational change. Throughout her career, Heather’s passion has focused on developing talent and fostering the best possible client experiences. She has a broad range of experience including developing innovative strategies and services to drive growth, championing enterprise transformational change, leading large operational mandates, and managing privacy, operational and compliance-related risks. Heather brings practical experience that includes client experience and usability research, business development, policy development and governance, and change management.

Having lost her husband after a year-long battle with cancer, Heather is passionate about quality healthcare and the patient experience. She has a lot of respect for the work of all those involved in delivering healthcare and her goal is to bring her professional experience and her focus on patient and family experience to our hospital Board.

Sean Granville

Sean, a mechanical engineer, joins the GBGH Board with more than 40 years experience in the power generation business, including executive leadership positions at the provincial level. Since retiring, he has dedicated his career to providing consulting services to the energy industry and serves as a Board member for two energy-related organizations.

Sean has lived in the community since 2018, enjoying the area for its four-season recreation, including biking, skiing, camping and producing maple syrup, with the help of his family. He looks forward to joining the GBGH Board to contribute to the organization’s growth given his experience leading major transformation projects, support local health care and give back to his community.

Barb Bell

Barb is an experienced nursing executive leader with expertise in the areas of acute care, post acute care, long term care and homecare sectors locally, regionally and provincially. Throughout her career, Barb has been known for fostering a person-centred culture, emphasizing stakeholder engagement, collaboration, and continuous learning, while demonstrating empathy and recognition. Barb is passionate about quality and safety initiatives to enhance the patient experience. She is a dedicated champion of innovation, organizational capacity building, evidence-based practices, and advancing patient outcomes. 

Barb is a fan of the Georgian Bay area, choosing to regularly escape here with her family and enjoy all this area has to offer. Barb is dedicated to her role on GBGH’s Board of Directors based on her professional experience and is looking to contribute to serving the community and enhancing healthcare services locally.

Dr. Treva Job

Dr. Treva Job is the Simulation Lead with the Health, Wellness and Science programs for a prominent college in Simcoe County. Her nursing career spans over 27 years in various positions as a Registered Nurse and Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner. She also holds a PhD from the University of Toronto in Curriculum, Teaching and Pedagogy. Treva has a diverse healthcare background both in hospital and community areas, in addition to the healthcare educational system. Treva has extensive knowledge of the multiple levels of healthcare and is well versed in the interdisciplinary roles in both acute care and tertiary care settings. She has a keen interest in quality initiatives that improve patient safety and care.

One of the many reasons she wanted to join the GBGH Board was to work collaboratively to build a better healthcare experience for all and to utilize her knowledge and understanding of the healthcare system. In addition, she is a resident of the area and believes that it is important to advocate for the needs of the community in which she lives.

Rachelle Tindale

Having lived in Midland and the surrounding area for most of her life, Rachelle Tindale brings deep local roots and a strong commitment to community well-being to her role on the GBGH Board of Directors. With over a decade of experience in Ontario’s regulated energy sector, Rachelle offers significant expertise in capital delivery, financial oversight, and stakeholder engagement.

Her professional career is focused on customer connections and infrastructure development, with a strong emphasis on operational excellence, safety, and customer experience—core values that align closely with GBGH’s strategic priority to “Make Excellent Care Personal.” Rachelle is passionate about continuous improvement and evidence-informed decision-making and has led teams through large complex projects with a focus on risk mitigation, transparency, and service delivery.

Rachelle is proud of her Métis heritage and values the importance of building strong relationships and creating inclusive spaces. She is committed to working with others to support equity, community connection, and a sense of belonging—reflecting GBGH’s focus on trust, collaboration, and people-first care.

Andrew Wismer

Andrew Wismer is a dedicated public service professional currently working in the field of municipal finance. He brings a wealth of experience from the municipal, provincial and federal levels of government, where he has contributed to a range of policy and financial initiatives. Andrew holds a Master’s degree in Economics and a Master’s in Public Policy, Administration and Law. His expertise includes financial planning, capital asset management, and strategic policy development—skills that support the hospital’s commitment to fiscal responsibility, long-term sustainability, and community-centered care. Andrew is passionate about strengthening public institutions and ensuring they deliver value and impact to the communities they serve.

Glenn Keenan

GBGH Foundation Board Appointee

Glenn Keenan is a lifetime cottager in Tiny Township and the father of two boys, both born at GBGH.

Glenn, a Professional Engineer, is a VP of Marketing with a large industrial equipment business in Toronto where he has had a 35 year career. Skilled in strategic planning, business & people development, supplier and partner development, and management, Glenn also has strong financial acumen. He is also dedicated to serving his community, having been active with the United Way in the GTA.

Matthew Lawson

President and CEO

Matthew Lawson has been President and CEO of GBGH since September 2022, having previously held the role of Executive Vice President of Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer. During his time with GBGH, Matthew has transformed many aspects of the hospital, including the budgeting, resource allocation, and capital equipment processes. He has also been a driving force in GBGH’s master planning process to secure a future hospital and push forward approvals of the proposed mental health program.

Prior to his role with GBGH, Matthew spent 11 years at a large regional hospital in progressive management positions including Chief Performance Officer, Director of Financial Planning & Analysis, Manager of Cancer Treatment Clinics, and a variety of interim leadership positions.

Dr. Vikram Ralhan

Chief of Staff

Dr. Vikram Ralhan has been the Chief of Staff at GBGH since January 2020. Dr. Ralhan has been a physician in GBGH’s Emergency department since 2009, and during that time, he has also embraced many administrative, quality improvement, and educational roles beyond direct patient care.

In addition to being a member of the GBGH team, Dr. Ralhan is a coroner, an Assistant Adjunct Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at McMaster University, and an Assistant Professor of Clinical Sciences with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM). He is also the GBGH Site Liaison Lead for students from NOSM, helping bring future physicians to GBGH to learn from a skilled team.

Dr. Sean Robinson

President, Professional Staff Association

Sean is a community family physician in Midland. He is part of the Waves Family Medicine team and provides inpatient coverage at GBGH. He is also an assistant professor at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. Sean became vice-president of the Professional Staff Association in 2023 and is excited to serve both his fellow physicians and the North Simcoe community.

Dr Danielle Davenport

Vice President, Professional Staff Association

Danielle Davenport has been a family physician in Penetanguishene since 2018. She cares for patients admitted at the hospital, in long-term care and in the clinic. She has been teaching students and sharing her passion for family medicine. She serves as the Vice President of the Professional Staff Association at GBGH.

Dr. Emily Queenan

President, Professional Staff Association

Dr. Emily Queenan, a native of Haverford, Pennsylvania, completed medical school at the University of Pennsylvania and did her family residency at the University of Rochester. Shortly after residency, Dr. Queenan remained in Rochester, operating the solo family practice Queenan Family Medicine & Maternity Care from 2009 until 2014. In 2014, Dr. Queenan closed her practice and looked to relocate to Canada based on her interest in supporting a system entrenched in the values of universal healthcare. In 2015, Dr. Queenan moved from the U.S. to Midland to open a Canadian iteration of Queenan Family Medicine & Maternity Care.
