The Midland COVID-19 Assessment Centre is currently experiencing unprecedented demand for testing within the community. The centre, operated by the North Simcoe Family Health Team (NSFHT), has been working with its health partners to increase testing appointments for the community, including extending hours Monday to Friday and weekends.
The Midland COVID-19 Assessment Centre is located at the North Simcoe Family Health Team – 619 Prospect Boulevard in Midland – and is open:
- Monday – Friday: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
- The Assessment Centre is a drive-thru format. Please follow the signage and remain in your vehicle rather than enter the building.
You do not need a referral to get a test and you do not need a health card, but if you have one please bring it with you.
How do I book a test?
Given the extreme demand for testing, as of December 30, the provincial government announced new eligibility criteria to preserve testing capacity for those at highest risk of contracting COVID-19. Those considered to be a highest risk include patient-facing healthcare workers, hospitalized patients and individuals 70+ years of age with a risk factor (such as obesity, diabetes or kidney disease). Members of the general public with mild symptoms are being asked not to seek testing. Individuals with symptoms indicative of COVID-19 can be presumed to be infected with COVID-19 and should initiate timely self-isolation to prevent transmission in the community. If you do not have internet access for booking an appointment at the Assessment Centre or receiving test results, please call 705-529-1025. Appointments cannot be booked and test results cannot be given in-person by visiting North Simcoe Family Health Team offices.
What happens when I get a test?
You will be assessed by a nurse at the Assessment Centre and then swabbed. The sample sent for processing at a lab. If you are symptomatic, you will be given instructions on how to self-isolate at home.
Where do I find my results?
You can view your test results online on the provincial COVID-19 Test Results website. Depending on provincial lab capacity, results can take up to 4 days.
