Your Commitment

Your commitment means that many people depend on you – patients and staff. We ask that you make a minimum of a one-year commitment of service as a volunteer.

Confidentiality is most important. A patient’s privacy must be respected. You may, as a volunteer, be given access to private information. All information about patients or donors to the Hospital Foundation is considered privileged. You will be required to keep anything that you learn strictly confidential.

All prospective volunteers must complete an application form and are interviewed by the Director of Interviews. If accepted, you will receive training in your chosen area of service by a volunteer trainer. Students (those 16 and over) wishing to volunteer are always welcome. Students should start the application process two to three months ahead of the end of the term if they want to volunteer during the summer break. You should note, though, that because of the time involved for the application and subsequent police checks you should apply two to three months before you want to start with us.
